Every year, schools across the world make a painful choice: spend precious budget dollars on expensive, bloated administrative software - or go without.

We found that unacceptable.

OS4Ed was born from a simple but powerful belief: every student deserves a school that runs well, and every school deserves software it can actually afford. We watched, year after year, as large commercial education software vendors sold overpriced, proprietary systems to districts that had little budget and even fewer choices. We saw botched implementations drain classroom funds. We saw teachers and administrators trapped in systems they couldn't control, couldn't customize, and couldn't escape.

So we decided to change it.

That vision led to openSIS, which has been serving educational institutions since 2008. Over the years, openSIS has evolved alongside the needs of schools while OS4Ed has continued to expand its technology and services for the education sector.

WHY We Exist?

We exist because student achievement should never be held hostage by software costs.

We believe technology in education should be a liberator, not a constraint. We believe that when schools are freed from the burden of overpriced software, money flows back where it belongs: into classrooms, into instruction, into students.

That conviction is what gets us up every morning.

HOW We Do It?

We do it by building open, user-friendly, and truly affordable software - and then giving schools the freedom to own it, adapt it, and grow with it.

“Open” is not just a feature for us. It is a philosophy. We believe schools should have flexible technology choices that fit their operational needs, infrastructure, and budget. openSIS Community Edition is free and open source, giving institutions access to the source code and the flexibility to use and adapt the software to their needs. Our other openSIS offerings provide additional deployment, support, and service options for institutions with different requirements.

We have demonstrated total cost of ownership savings of over 75% compared to commercial alternatives. We do this with software built for the mobile generation: scalable, secure, multilingual, and cloud-native.

WHAT Do We Build?

Our flagship product, openSIS, is a full-featured Student Information System that manages student information, enrollment, attendance, scheduling, grades, reporting, and other essential school operations in a single platform. openSIS is available in different editions to meet different institutional needs:

• openSIS Community Edition – Free and open source. The Community Edition can be downloaded from the official openSIS GitHub repository for institutions that want to install and manage openSIS independently. Download openSIS Community Edition from GitHub.
• openSIS Professional Edition – A licensed, on-premises solution that can be customized to meet institutional requirements.
• openSIS SaaS – A subscription-based, cloud-hosted solution managed as a service.

Alongside openSIS, we offer openIntel, a data warehousing solution designed to bring institutional data together for reporting, analytics, and data-driven decision-making.
